A little more about the book:

A brilliant and hardworking young lawyer in Wellington, Lecretia’s life changed completely when she was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.

The death she faced – slow, painful, dependent – was completely at odds with how she had lived her life. She wanted to die with dignity, to be able to say goodbye well, and not to suffer unnecessarily – but the law denied her that choice.

Lecretia decided to mount a legal challenge to New Zealand’s arbitrary ban on assisted dying in the High Court. She sadly died on 5 June 2015, at the age of 42, the day after she learned that the court had ruled against her.

As well as a moving story, this book outlines the legal case, testimonies from experts and international evidence on end of life choice in a clear, concise way.
